A little about Laurie

Every woman possesses a unique beauty, and the premier goal of Heirlooms by Laurie Olson Williams is to assist her in creating the gown that most perfectly compliments her unique beauty. Laurie uses her passion for historical styles, her skill for custom fitting, and her unique sense of design to create one-of-a-kind wedding gowns that both flatter the wearer and embody her personal style. Eager to incorporate luxurious fabrics, lavish amounts of hand worked details, and splashes of color, Laurie creates gowns not only particularly suited to their wearers, but worthy of being handed down for generations.

Laurie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre, and credits that training with helping develop her unique design vision. This training, coupled with a deep passion for textiles and history, has resulted in a designer/dressmaker with a vast store of historical knowledge to draw upon and a thorough understanding of high end clothing construction. It has also given her a knack for creative usage of materials and designs, which results in gowns that cannot be duplicated at the retail level. One of the highlights of her theatrical training was a course in millinery. She continues to perfect her skills in this area by creating custom headpieces and veils to compliment both her own designs and other gowns.

Sewing seriously since 1986, and designing for nearly as long, Laurie opened her studio to public projects in 1994. She has been practicing various forms of needlework and beading for as long as she can remember, and uses those skills frequently. A voracious reader, she uses every opportunity she can find to further her understanding of couture construction details and refine her knowledge of design. Whether one is seeking a Renaissance fantasy or a traditional confection, Laurie creates new heirlooms for the bride of today.
